Eva Karasmanis
Drexel faculty mentor: Elias Spiliotis
Eva Karasmanis is a 4th year PhD candidate in the Department of Biology. Her research focuses on the cell biology of septins, a group of proteins whose expression is missregulated in many cancers. In particular, she is interested in how septins function in the last step of cell division and contribute to the development of cancer. Using cutting edge methods of super resolution light and electron microscopy, Eva hopes to gain new insights into the cause of cancer and how septins can be targeted for cancer therapies.
