Assessment & Evaluation Glossary

To gather information and work with faculty on the assessment and evaluation of teaching and learning, everyone needs to be speaking the same language.  Because of the varying backgrounds of experience, specialties and certification/accreditation requirements here at Drexel, often discussions are not clear because different terms are being used to discuss the same things.  To deliver a unified message, the Assessment Fellows have developed a glossary of terms to bridge the communication gap that currently exists when speaking about assessment and evaluation.  Using a variety of sources and their combined expertise, the Fellows crafted this document to provide clarity of each term.

The Goals of the Glossary Project were to create a document that is:

  1. Current: the definitions developed utilizing the most current literature and schools of thought
  2. Clear: the definitions are meant to be clear so that every level from novice to advanced can understand
  3. Universal: the definitions are broken down to the most general level and are not beholden to any discipline or accrediting body

The Glossary is a living document to be reviewed biannually to maintain currency.  If you have any suggested edits or additions, please submit to Joseph Hawk @ jmh356@drexel.edu.
