Classroom Guidelines
Academic Integrity
All students must follow the Drexel University's academic integrity policy. Violations include, but are not limited to: plagiarism, cheating, fabrication, and academic misconduct. If you have questions about this policy, please talk with your instructor and consult the Drexel Academic Policies and The Student Code of Conduct.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the use of other people's words or ideas as your own. American universities have strong policies regarding plagiarism and severe consequences if a student plagiarizes. Plagiarism can include everything from copying and pasting a paper to including facts or information in written work without saying where it came from.

Participation
Students are expected to come to class prepared with homework and all required materials. They should take part in pair work, group work, and class discussions. When visitors come to class, or students go on field trips, they are expected to be respectful, attentive, and engaged. Students must be active participants in class to receive full credit for participation.
A student may be asked to leave class and marked absent if they are:
- unprepared for class activities and discussions and therefore cannot participate
- using a cell phone, smart phone, or laptop during class, if not asked to do so
- leaving class for more than 5 minutes after class begins
- chatting with classmates in a language other than English
Disciplinary Conduct
Behavior that disturbs the peace, academic study, or sleep of others both on- or off-campus is not allowed. This policy applies to behaviors in the classroom/research setting as well as behaviors on- and off-campus and in residential facilities. Examples include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Excessively leaving and entering a classroom without authorization.
- Repeatedly dominating online discussion boards or forums.
- Making personal insults.
- Being excessive noisy.
- Behaving offensively.
- Throwing, dropping, or projecting any object or substance that has the potential for causing damage to property, injury, or disruption.
- Intentionally and inappropriately interfering with the freedom of expression or movement of others.
- Interfering with University activity, such as recreation, meetings, and public events.
All students are expected to behave appropriately. Any disorderly conduct can result in being dismissed from class (or involve Public Safety in severe cases).
