The Beachell Center partnered with the Urban League of Philadelphia to provide housing counseling and assist first-time homeowners. The Urban League’s homeownership program offers community members training, education, and resources on sustainable home ownership. Last year, the Urban League ran financial literacy programs at the Dornsife Center, which have helped 91 West Philadelphia families purchase their first home to remain in their communities and build intergenerational wealth, stability and economic power.

Since mid 2019, ULP is receiving funding under PHFA's PHARE initiative dedicated to incentivizing homeownership in sections of West and Southwest Philadelphia. To date, 91 households have been awarded direct financial assistance in the form of a grant to help cover the closing cost associated with the purchase of a first home.
