Bio:

Kate Hughes started at Drexel in 2008 after leaving the San Diego chapter of the International Rescue Committee (IRC), where she launched IRC’s first food security and community health program. She earned a MS in Education from Lesley University via the Audubon Expedition Institute, a mobile experiential program that allowed her to study throughout much of North America, and a master’s in public health from Drexel.

She teaches CIVC 101, and in Guatemala each winter, teaches a community-based course for Drexel students focused on international development.

When she’s not at Drexel, you’ll find her biking around the city, checking out live music, exploring with her backpack, and leading a nonprofit group she founded to support a public elementary school in Fishtown.

College was a transformative period of her life, and she loves supporting students as they unlock their own transformation.
