Veronica Carey, PhD, CPRP, CDE® has taught in academia for the past 18 years. She is currently the assistant dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Drexel University College of Nursing and Health Professions. She is an associate clinical professor within the Human Development and Counseling program in the Department of Counseling and Family Therapy; the chair of the Board of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; the chair of the Academy for Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association and vice president of the Caravan of Life an NGO in Pakistan. Carey is very much interested in the impact of national events upon persons of color here in the U.S. As a frequent international guest lecturer and workshop presenter, Carey has addressed the implementation of psychiatric rehabilitation services, as well as the incorporation of diversity and inclusion to bodies of faculty, professional staff and students across the country and around the world. Carey authored: Frame Your Degree: How to Avoid Pain while Seeking a College Degree in June 2023. Carey filmed an inaugural TEDxTalk entitled Pain, Pain Go Away! July of 2023. Carey trains internationally having presented in Abu Dhabi, Africa; Italy; Pakistan; Singapore and United Emirates. A personal factoid is Carey enjoys interior design and is co-partners with her sister in a real estate LLC flipping houses.

A national and international guest lecturer and workshop presenter, Carey has presented on evidence-based best practices in recovery-oriented services, psychiatric rehabilitation services, diversity, inclusion and belonging. Carey has trained in Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana, Italy, Korea, Pakistan, Malaysa and Singapore. Carey authored her first book: Frame Your Degree: How to Avoid Pain while Seeking a College Degree in June 2023 and an inaugural TEDxTalk in spring of 2023 entitled Pain, Pain Go Away! Her articles on direct-care staff development in community-based treatment settings have been published in the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Journal, PSY Connections and Psychiatric Services.
