Zagster

Tim EricsonFounded in 2007 by Drexel graduates Timothy Ericson (left) and Jason Meinzer, Zagster is a startup that provides bicycle-sharing systems for the world’s leading businesses and institutions.

Inspired by the Vélib’ bike sharing service in Paris, Ericson merged his background in IT at a Fortune 500 company with his passion for biking to found Zagster. Meinzer, who also worked at the Baiada Institute, joined as a senior sales consultant.  They worked together to establish a company that leverages technology to make bikes accessible to hundreds of thousands of Americans. Zagster strives to design, build, and operate solutions to fit their clients’ individual needs to create a unique rider experience.

The founders cite the Baiada Institute’s staff as being “invaluable resources” during the company’s incuabation. They credit Baiada as having “helped us take an idea and form a business.”

Currently headquartered in Cambridge, Mass., Zagster operates bike shares in 17 states. Their partners include Amtrak, Duke University, Four Seasons Hotels, and Yale University. As huge supporters of a healthy, eco-friendly lifestyle, they want Zagster to become the nationwide standard in bike sharing.
