First-year students of the Close School of Entrepreneurship are invited to apply to attend the Silicon Valley Immersion Trip, March 27-31, 2023 (spring break)

Join the Close School on a trip to Silicon Valley, California, for five days of exploration of this San Francisco Bay Area region, the world's pre-eminent hub for technology and innovation and home to the world's largest high-tech companies and thousands of startups. Selected students will tour companies in the region, meet with members of Drexel's Northern California Entrepreneurship Alumni Network (EAN) and participate in a pitch competition hosted by the EAN. Students will also have the opportunity to explore the beautiful and culturally-rich city of San Francisco.

You must have and maintain good academic standing, will be a full-time student in the winter and spring quarters, and not have had any violations of Drexel's Code of Conduct.

Between eight and ten students will be selected by an independent committee comprised of EAN members. Applications will be judged on:

  • the quality of the idea based on a submitted application and video pitch presentation (factors include market need, clear articulation of the idea, enthusiasm for it)
  • the content of an essay that addresses how this trip can help to advance your idea and build your professional network

Accepted students are responsible for purchasing their round-trip airfare to/from San Francisco and ground transportation to/from the hotel. Drexel University will finance other aspects of the trip, hotel (two students per room), certain meals, and transportation around Silicon Valley. Students should have available funds via cash or credit card to pay for costs outside the scope of the program.

The deadline to apply is January 15th. Students will be notified of the status of their application on January 30th. Selected students must make their own travel arrangements and submit their itineraries to Melissa Tevere by midnight on February 15.
