The tartan uses Drexel's official primary colors, blue and gold, in a design based on a proprietary algorithm that combines the year Drexel was founded (1891) with the geographic coordinates of its Philadelphia campus (39.956° N, 75.189° W) Drexel's heart, mind, and spirit are also expressed through the following secondary colors:
