Alumni Impact Endowed Scholarship
Hundreds Of Dragons Have Come Together To Help Civic-minded Students Achieve Their Dreams And Make A Difference In The World.
Thanks to generous donations from alumni and members of the Drexel community, more than $534,000 has been raised to support the Alumni Impact Scholarship.
This summer, a new recipient, Salamata Bah ’24, was selected to be the next Alumni Impact Scholar. Bah is a computer science major in the College of Computing & Informatics, entering her second year.
She is from Guinea, West Africa where she created an organization called Girls for Future that was dedicated to fighting against childhood marriage and empowering girls to pursue their education. She aims to bring this organization to the U.S. and establish it as a non-governmental organization.
In addition to her outstanding academic performance, Bah is a member of the Women in Computing Society, Star Scholars program and part of the Dornsife Global Scholars Program. She says she hopes to be able to travel with the program to work on projects that bring clean water to communities in the Sierra Leone.
“It's an honor to be recognized as Drexel's newest Alumni impact Scholarship recipient,” says Bah. “A year ago, I was trying to meet all my college expenses amid a pandemic. Thanks to the generosity of Drexel Alumni and donors who made this scholarship possible…(it’s) much easier for me to spend more time on my studies and learn new skills here at Drexel.
“My goal is to keep focusing on my studies while involved in extracurricular activities that interest me, such as being on the committee of Drexel Women in Computing Society. I am hoping to pursue my passion for technology and healthcare by declaring a minor in Bioinformatics and participating in research.”
