Visiting Scholar


Lilah Besser, PhD, MSPH, is an assistant professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning and the Institute for Human Health and Disease Intervention at Florida Atlantic University and a current visiting scholar at the Urban Health Collaborative (UHC). Her research focuses on the intersections between neighborhoods, the built and social environment, aging, and brain health. She is co-lead of the Social Determinants of Health Work Group for the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA), and maintains close collaborations with researchers from the Urban Health Collaborative including Gina Lovasi, PhD, co-director of the UHC, and Jana Hirsch, PhD, MES, assistant research professor.
