At the Drexel Urban Health Collaborative we believe that our work can continue getting stronger and more impactful as we learn from, and share lessons with, other urban areas. Outside of Philadelphia, the surrounding region includes other cities facing many similar challenges.
We are rooted and deeply engaged with our own community and our own city, Philadelphia. As part of our work we compile data on health determinants and health outcomes for the greater Philadelphia area and for local neighborhoods. We strive to make data accessible to researchers, policy makers, and the public through reports and briefs and work with local partners to conduct place-based research and policy evaluation.
Philadelphia Urban Health Data Repository
The UHC Research and Data Core compiles and processes data on health determinants across Philadelphia neighborhoods. Our data include:
- Features of neighborhood physical and built environments
- Social determinants of health and neighborhood social environments
- Spatially referenced health outcome data
The UHC builds on established partnerships of its faculty with local, state and federal government agencies (health departments and other sectors related to health), other academic institutions, health systems, local retail and industry partners, non-governmental organizations, and community members.
