Fall Mainstage - Audition Announcement 

When: In-person auditions will be Sunday, August 17th from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm by appointment. See the link below to sign up for a 5-minute audition time. If you are unable to attend the in-person auditions you may submit an audition video, instructions for submitting a video audition are below.

Callbacks for both in-person and online (via zoom) will be held on Sunday, August 24th starting at 12:00 pm.

Where: In person auditions will be held at The URBN Annex Black Box Theatre - 3401 Filbert

What to prepare:

Please prepare a 60-90 second contemporary comedic monologue of your choosing from a published play. While you are welcome to select a piece from the play, it is by no means required. We welcome actors of all backgrounds to audition for any role.

Sign up: Please signup using the google sheet by clicking HERE, and add your name, email, and phone number in your preferred time slot.

Submitting a Virtual Audition: Please film yourself performing your 60-90 second monologue. Then upload your audition to youtube or vimeo and send the link to Theatre Program Director Nick Anselmo, nma28@drexel.edu, at before 12:00 pm eastern time on Friday, August 15th for full consideration.

About the Show: She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly's Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she finds herself catapulted into a journey of discovery and adventure in the imaginary world that was created by her sister. Join us for this high-energy dramatic comedy complete with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and 90s pop culture, as a sister ventures into the unknown world of D&D and discovers that she didn't really know her sister. NARRATOR, TILLY EVANS, AGNES EVANS, CHUCK, MILES, LILITH, KALIOPE, ORCUS, VERA, STEVE, BUGBEAR, FARRAH, SUCCUBI: EVIL GABBI, SUCCUBI EVIL TINA, GELATINOUS CUBE, TIAMAT

4+ Ensemble members can double to cover various puppets like Gelatinous Cube, Tiamat and be fighting monsters in scenes as well as the Narrator.

About the Director: Abby Weissman (she/her) is a director, intimacy professional, educator, arts administrator (and more!) based in Philadelphia. She is a company member of Revolution Shakespeare, and a proud alumnus of Northwestern University and the Arden Professional Apprentice Program. Most recently, she has spent her time teaching consent at colleges across the country with Speak About It, directing Shakespeare with DelShakes, and coordinating free performing arts programming for teens with Opera Philadelphia. She is over the moon to be working at Drexel, home of her mentor Bill Fennelly. Abby's core artistic values are autonomy, curiosity, and joy. Directing credits include: Delaware Shakespeare, Philadelphia Artists Collective/Revolution Shakespeare, Penn Singers, People's Light. Intimacy credits include: 1812 Productions, Arden Theatre Co., Delaware Theatre Co., Hedgerow Theater, Philadelphia Theatre Co., Montgomery Theater, Wilma Theater.

Notes about the production schedule:

First rehearsal for this show will be the Tuesday, September 23rd at 7:00 pm.

Rehearsals will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 7:00 to 10:00 pm as well as Saturdays from 12:00 to 5:00. Because of the nature of the show and the short rehearsal period it will be difficult to work around any evening conflicts.

The show previews on Thursday, November 6th and opens on Friday, November 7th in the Mandell Theater. It runs November 6-8 & 13-15th at 8:00 pm with a matinee on Sunday, November 9th at 2 pm.

You must be available for all of these dates as well as technical rehearsals Friday, October 31st from 4-10 pm, and 10:00 am - 8:00 pm on Saturday, November 1 & Sunday, November 2.
