Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Alternate to India, 2019

BA Environmental Studies and Sustainability ’19


Laura is a current senior environmental studies and sustainability major with a minor in Spanish. Throughout her time at Drexel, Laura has engaged in many global experiences through studying abroad in Costa Rica, India, Wales, and Hong Kong. While finishing her undergraduate studies, she works in stormwater management at the Philadelphia Water Department promoting best management practices of green stormwater infrastructure projects. Under the guidance of Dr. Stefanie Kroll, she also conducts research into aquatic macroinvertebrates to assess watershed health at the Academy of Natural Sciences.

Tailoring her international and work experiences to future studies, Laura pursues a Master’s degree in water science, governance, and policy. She aspires to work on capacity building and funding opportunities for urban wastewater management in Latin America and South Asia. If given the CLS award, Laura will study Hindi in Jaipur, India. She is very grateful to Debjani Bhattacharyya and Rachael McBride for their continued support throughout the application process.
