Kourtney Walter

I am currently an International Area Studies student with a minor in Spanish. As my major may imply, I have a strong interest in travel. I have just finished my first co-op abroad in Ireland and Argentina. During my short time abroad, I have seen amazing places and met even more amazing people, which has furthered my want to see more of the world. Traveling has shown me that there is so much I don’t know and haven’t seen; therefore, I want to take advantage of every opportunity to do so. Aside from traveling I love to watch old black and white movies/shows, play sports, and spend time with my friends and family.

The Gilman Scholarship will help me fulfill my desire to travel by allowing me to go to Costa Rica to study and explore in another part of the world, while also getting the chance to practice and improve my Spanish. This is an amazing accomplishment that I am so proud of. I can’t wait to see how this new experience will help shape myself and my future to come.
