Hasreet Gill

Hasreet Gill graduated from Drexel University with a B.S. in Biological Sciences in 2014. During undergrad, she worked in Meera Sundaram's lab at the University of Pennsylvania, where she used a C. elegans model to study how an apical extracellular matrix protein helps shape single-celled excretory tubes during development. She presented this work at the 2015 International C. elegans Meeting, and published findings in PLoS Genetics as co-first author in 2016. She is now a second-year PhD student in Cliff Tabin's lab at Harvard Medical School. There, she studies how sub-compartments of the intestinal tract achieve drastically different internal surfaces and dimensions, focusing on the role of physical forces in development.

Outside of research, Hasreet has been involved in science outreach to the public in Philadelphia and Boston. She created and co-produced a science-themed comedy show at Good Good Comedy Theatre in Philadelphia, and worked with the STEAM program Maker Jawn to share science activities with students in North Philadelphia branches of The Free Library. She currently co-runs an outreach program called Model Organism Zoo as part of Harvard GSAS Science in the News.
