Evelyn is a fourth year DrPH Candidate in the Department of Community Health & Prevention at the Drexel School of Public Health. She holds a Bachelor and Masters degree both in Neuroscience from Brown University and Columbia University, respectively. Her research interests are in targeting disparities in women's health screenings among priority groups, particularly women with intellectual disabilities. For her dissertation, Evelyn is conducting a mixed methods study that explores barriers and facilitators to mammogram rates among women with intellectual disabilities of different racial and ethnic groups in Philadelphia County. Evelyn's dissertation is funded by grant R36HS023966 from the Agency for HealthCare Research & Quality. Evelyn aspires to become a public health researcher to reduce racial/ethnic disparities and to improve the quality of healthcare for priority populations in urban communities.
