The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship Program awards scholarships to students pursuing an eligible training or degree program for a primary care health profession. In return, scholars commit to providing primary care health services in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs).
The scholarship funds tuition, fees, other educational costs, and a living stipend in return for a commitment to work for 2-4 years at an approved facility in a medically underserved community (depending on the number of years of scholarship support).
Applicants must be full-time students at an accredited school, pursuing a degree in an eligible discipline: medicine (MD or DO), dentistry (DDS or DMD), nurse practitioner, certified nurse-midwife, or physician assistant.
