Meet Drexel’s 2012 Truman Nominee Liza Rubin

February 8, 2012

Liza Rubin (Psychology ’13, PHC) has been selected as Drexel’s 2012 nominee for the Truman Scholarship for Public Service. Liza is a Drexel Community Scholar for the Lombard Soup Kitchen and a DCS Team Leader. She is a leader of the Hunger and Homelessness Prevention Coalition, a Head RA with Residential Living, and a member of the Student Conduct Board.

Liza would like to pursue a career working in the juvenile justice system to improve and systematize treatment and re-entry programs for incarcerated youth.  To do this, she would like to pursue a joint JD/PhD in a Law and Psychology program.

The Truman Scholarship identifies approximately 60 student leaders across the US who are committed to careers as “change agents” in public service. The award provides intensive mentoring and networking opportunities, as well as up to $30,000 in support for graduate school.

Congratulations and good luck to you Liza!
