Camden Mothers and Grandmothers Join Witnesses to Hunger

June 13, 2013

Ten mothers and grandmothers from Camden, New Jersey are the newest members of Witnesses to Hunger. In what has been named one of the most impoverished and dangerous cities in America, 10 women are sharing their stories and photographs of what life is like for them and their children.

Through their photos and interview-based testimony, the Witnesses in Camden address topics of food and hunger, housing and homelessness, experiences with the welfare system, employment and education, and violence and safety in Camden.

The Camden Witnesses include:

  • Nia T.
  • Anisa D.
  • Beatrize D.
  • Kathy
  • Tiffany J.
  • Christie I.

Camden is the fourth site for Witnesses to Hunger, joining Philadelphia, Boston, and Baltimore.  As in the other sites, the Camden Witnesses want to break the cycle of poverty. They have the experience and expertise to make a change.
