Witnesses attend Harrisburg Rally and Hunger Garden Groundbreaking

May 9, 2011

Last week, Witnesses to Hunger teamed up with the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger to attend a fair budget rally and speak to representatives about welfare reform bills that threaten to increase hunger across Pennsylvania. Witness Tiffany R. was in attendance and spoke with State Senator Michael Brubaker.

Witnesses and Coalition members asked elected officials to protect Department of Public Welfare programs, including SNAP (food stamps) and TANF (cash assistance) from draconian budget cuts that would reduce the already meager resources that families receive to secure a healthy, productive future for their children.

The day also included the groundbreaking of the Capitol Hunger Garden.
