SNAP Participants Collaborative
The SNAP Participants Collaborative is a multi-city workgroup of current and past Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants who came together during the COVID-19 pandemic to advocate for change in the program. By sharing their expertise based on the lived experience of participating in the SNAP program, they are educating policymakers and the public on how to make the program work for all people.
To date, their efforts have included meeting with representatives at the USDA Food and Nutrition Services to express concerns and recommendations related to the SNAP program. and sharing these recommendations through a soon to be released policy brief so the public and policymakers can understand the challenges of the SNAP program. It is their hope that the USDA will be encourage to update and improve SNAP in order to promote the health and wellbeing of all people in the United States.
