Illustrations
The Fox Collection holds an unusually extensive body of illustrations that support the curriculum of the Westphal College of Media Arts and Design. Fashion illustration was historically regarded as an essential yet commercial component of the design industry; however, it is now widely recognized for its significant artistic contributions. The illustrations in the Fox Collection are primarily connected to the American fashion industry but also include notable examples of theatrical design.
Research and cataloging of the Robert and Penny Fox Historic Costume Collection is ongoing, and our records may be incomplete or evolving. In keeping with our educational mission, we strive to make as much of the collection accessible online as possible. Doing so sometimes requires flexibility in traditional metadata and cataloging standards.
