ExCITe Residency: Music
The ExCITe Center is excited to announce its first Artist in Residency, Peter English.
For this ExCITe Residency, Peter will work in close collaboration with students and faculty to infuse his artistic process with the creative, technology-driven collaborative sensibilities of the ExCITe Center at Drexel University.
This Residency: Music is the core of our program for technology-enhanced live concerts for improved audience engagement supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation's arts program, which aims to engage and enrich Philadelphia through the arts.
Peter English is a Philadelphia-based musician, producer and film director. His music is a celebration of both classic pop and modern experimentation, a nexus of contrasting soundscapes populated by vivid, intense characters.
In addition to his audio work, from 2009-2014 he worked as Creative Director for the non-profit Weathervane Music, supporting independent music across the country and creating the acclaimed documentary series Shaking Through. He worked with luminaries such as Sufjan Stevens, Sharon Van Etten, The War on Drugs, Wilco, & Grizzly Bear and earned praise from Pitchfork, Stereogum, NPRmusic, IFCnews and Boing Boing, as well as garnering a coveted Vimeo Staff Pick.
He is very excited to push his vision forward and to collaborate closely with Drexel University to create something important and engaging.
