Appeals Policy

In accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the ADA as Amendments Act (ADAAA), and Drexel University's commitment to equal access for people with disabilities, an appeal process has been established for individuals who believe they have been denied reasonable accommodations by Disability Resources.

If there is a dispute as to whether an individual has a Disability or whether the documentation provided is adequate, if ODR and the Qualified Student with a Disability cannot agree on a Reasonable Accommodation, or if ODR denies an accommodation, the student may begin the appeals process by submitting a Letter of Appeal to the Associate Vice President of Student Success and Chief of Staff within thirty (30) business days of the date of such decision.

The Letter of Appeal must include:

  1. Name and University ID number of appellant
  2. Basis for the appeal
  3. The remedy or relief sought
  4. Any supporting information

Upon receipt of the Letter of Appeal, the Senior Vice President for Student Success will review the appeal, make a determination and notify the student of the determination in writing within 10 business days of the receipt of the appeal.

If there is a dispute as to whether an employee has a Disability or whether the documentation provided is adequate, if the HR Leave and Disability Consultant and the employee with a Disability cannot agree on a Reasonable Accommodation, or if the HR Leave and Disability Consultant denies an accommodation, the employee may begin the appeals process by submitting a Letter of Appeal to the Sr. Vice President and Chief Human Resources Office within thirty (30) business days of the date of the decision.

The Letter of Appeal must include:

  1. Name and University ID number of appellant
  2. Basis for the appeal
  3. The remedy or relief sought
  4. Any supporting information

The Sr. Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer will review the appeal, make a determination and notify the employee of the determination in writing within 10 business days of the receipt of the appeal. In the event that the Sr. Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer made the decision, which is being appealed, the Executive Vice President, Treasurer, and Chief Operating Officer will review the appeal and make a determination.
