Message from the Dean

Congratulations, Class of 2026!

On behalf of the faculty and staff of the College of Engineering, it is my honor to celebrate your remarkable achievement. Your time at Drexel has been defined by what you built in the lab, learned in the classroom and discovered on co-op. The skills and instincts you developed along the way will serve your career and the world you are about to help shape.

As you leave Drexel, know that you carry with you a strong foundation and a commitment to solving problems that matter. You are now part of a growing community of Drexel Engineering alumni making their mark across every field. We are proud of everything you have accomplished, and we look forward to seeing the difference you will make.

Kapil Dandekar, PhD
Interim Dean, College of Engineering

About the Keynote Speaker

Walter Nicholas Howley, III, BS '75, is co-founder and chairman of TransDigm Group, a NYSE-listed global designer, producer and supplier of highly engineered aircraft components that is among the world's largest aerospace component suppliers. He served as president and CEO from 1998 to 2018 and executive chairman through 2021. Howley also co-founded Perimeter Solutions, a NYSE-listed company and global leader in forest fire control.

As co-trustee of the Howley Foundation, he supports educational opportunities for students of limited means. His philanthropic ties to Drexel include the Doug Peacock Scholarship, funded through TransDigm in honor of his late co-founder. In December 2023, he was elected to the Drexel University Board of Trustees, serving on both the Academic Affairs and Finance and Human Resource Committees.

In October 2022, the Howley Foundation partnered with Drexel to establish the Howley College Scholars Program, providing full-cost undergraduate scholarships to graduates of West Catholic Preparatory High School. The program expanded in March 2024 to offer 10 scholarships per year to students graduating from any of seven Philadelphia Catholic high schools. In 2014, Drexel and West Catholic jointly launched the Engineering Technology Academy, offering students a hands-on introduction to engineering throughout high school.

Howley also serves on the board of directors of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and as a trustee of the Cleveland Clinic.
