Through alumni groups, you can stay connected to fellow graduates who share your interests, background and experiences. The different types of groups listed below allow you to get involved in a way that is most meaningful to you.

Drexel Alumni Affinity Group Guidelines

Drexel alumni affinity groups are established to celebrate a specific interest, experience, industry, or identity by providing programming and engagement opportunities to connect alumni with each other and to Drexel.

To be considered for official recognition, alumni affinity groups must meet the following standards and submit an application to the Alumni Board of Governors and the Alumni Office for review. Official standing will be reviewed annually. The Alumni Office reserves the right to remove official recognition due to inactivity, noncompliance, or other reasons.

Alumni Affinity Group Requirements Include:

  • Follow a formalized operating document, including:
    • Mission statement
    • Annual plan with a proposed calendar of events
    • Roles and responsibilities for volunteer leadership team and a detailed succession plan
      • Leadership team must have a minimum of four volunteers
      • All volunteers must be in good standing with Drexel
  • Leadership team must meet at least three times per year
  • Host at least three events or activities per year
  • Leadership team members must sign the Volunteer Code of Conduct, Confidentiality, and Conflicts of Interest form annually and adhere to these guidelines
  • Group must be open to all Drexel University alumni
  • Work in coordination with and support of the Alumni Office, maintaining contact and responding to requests for updates
  • Any fundraising, event ticket sales and collection of money must be done through Drexel Alumni channels
  • Serve as an ambassador for Drexel Alumni, including actively participating in programs and initiatives and supporting the best interests of the entire Drexel community
  • Follow Drexel’s brand standards
  • Must be able to show significant interest in the launch and continued operation of the group. To launch, groups must provide at least 100 signatures of alumni (corresponding to a unique alumni ID) who are interested in joining the group.
