Tenure and Promotion

We are pleased to announce and congratulate the Westphal College faculty members who have recently been awarded tenure and promotion. 

Dr. Ulrike Altenmüller-Lewis has been granted tenure and promoted to Associate Professor of Architecture. The accomplished Dr. Altenmüller-Lewis served for several years as Program Director of Architecture while pursuing tenure, and she has published a book translating noted German Architect Bruno Taut’s work in addition to publishing articles in numerous journals on the impact of the built environment on human wellbeing and performance, especially in schools in Finland.

Jody Graff, the very capable Program Director of our nationally recognized Graphic Design program, has been promoted to Associate Professor and granted tenure. Professor Graff has done notable work in the field of environmental graphics, and has designed exhibition graphics for displays at the Tribute World Trade Center 9/11 Visitor Center in New York and informational displays for the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center in New Jersey.

Photography Program Professor Andrea Modica has been promoted to Full Professor. Modica’s works are in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, the Corcoran Gallery and the Biblioteque Nationale in Paris, France, and she continues her impressive record of exhibitions in major museums and notable galleries while lecturing and teaching in the U.S. and internationally.

Bruce Pollock has been granted tenure and promoted to Associate Professor of Art & Art History. During his pre-tenure period, his paintings were exhibited in six solo shows, including at such prestigious venues as the Santa Monica Museum of Art and China’s Shenzen Art Museum, and in 32 group shows both in the U.S. and abroad.

Lise Raven has been granted tenure and promoted to Associate Professor of Film and Video. Her recent theatrical film, Kinderwald, played at this year’s Slamdance and Munich Film Festivals.
