    • Continuing Protests in Hong Kong

      August 14, 2019

      Drexel International Health, Safety and Security has been closely monitoring the protest events taking place in Hong Kong and has been in contact with exchange partner universities in the city where Drexel students participate in education abroad. The current State Department Advisory for Hong Kong is at level 2 (of four): Exercise Increased Caution. IHSS and the Hong Kong universities have provided guidance to current travelers and those travelling to Hong Kong in the coming weeks. 


    • Typhoon Lekima in Shanghai

      August 10, 2019

      Drexel International Health, Safety and Security is monitoring news of Typhoon Lekima which has made landfall in China and is expected to cause significant disruption in Shanghai. Guidance has been provided to known Drexel travelers in Shanghai. 


    • Protests in Malawi

      July 04, 2019

      International Health, Safety and Security is monitoring the ongoing protests in Malawi which are primarily occurring in urban areas. IHSS has completed welfare checks on Drexel travelers in country.  


    • Water Shortage in Chennai

      June 22, 2019

      International Health, Safety and Security is monitoring news of a water shortage in Chennai, India and has reached out to coordinators for student activity in Chennai to ensure that adequate resources are available to Drexel travelers.


    • Anti-government Protests in Honduras

      June 20, 2019

      Drexel International Health, Safety and Security is monitoring news of on going anti-government protests in Honduras occurring around major cities including the  cities of Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula. All known Drexel travelers in country are located outside of the major cities and are not currently being affected by protests. 


    • Confirmed Case of Ebola in Uganda

      June 12, 2019

      The Uganda Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization have confirmed a case of Ebola in Kasese, Uganda, near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. A Rapid Response Team has been dispatched to Kasese to identify other people who may be at risk. Drexel currently has no known travelers in Uganda.


    • Protests in Hong Kong

      June 12, 2019

      International Health, Safety and Security is monitoring news of intense protests by students and civil rights activists in Central Hong Kong. Drexel has no known travelers in Hong Kong at this time. Students who will be studying in Hong Kong this summer have been advised of the situation. 


    • Worldwide Caution

      January 15, 2019

      As part of its ongoing efforts to provide citizens with safety and security information for international travel, the US Department of State has updated its Worldwide Caution. The last worldwide caution was issued in July, 2018. Drexel travelers are encouraged to review carefully the current advisory and to register their travel in STEP.
