December 2, 2020

The first is the NBNA Social Justice Scholarship from the National Black Nurses Association. This scholarship is awarded in honor of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and all the men and women of color who have died because of social and racial injustice. The $1,150 scholarship, which is meant to support nurses and nursing students in their educational pursuits, was presented in September during the Annual NBNA Virtual Conference Experience, with more than 1,000 nurses and student nurses in attendance.

The second is the 2020 New Jersey League for Nursing Scholarship Award in the amount of $1,000. Maye earned this scholarship due to her achievements, academic excellence and commitment to her nursing education, as well as for remaining focused and demonstrating resilience in the time of a pandemic. The award will be presented in December during a virtual ceremony.

“Drexel’s MSN in Leadership in Health Systems Management program curriculum and the faculty have equipped me with a solid foundation of knowledge thus far. I am especially thankful for Dr. Rita K. Adeniran who took the time to write two letters of recommendation on my behalf,” said Maye. “I am looking forward to completing my winter practicum and putting my knowledge into practice in all stages of my nursing journey as I hone my leadership skills, collaborate with others to influence positive change and health care transformation and work towards becoming a Chief Nurse Executive.”
