Mark Hernandez, MPH is a doctoral student in the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics. Under the mentorship of Gina Lovasi, PhD, MPH, his research will focus on examining how gentrification impacts neighborhood social environment and health inequities. He is also interested in studying the population health effects of implementing participatory approaches to neighborhood change. Prior to joining the UHC, Mark worked as a researcher at MIT, where he led an effort developing data analytics and decision support tools for the State of Maine’s mental health crisis system. Mark earned his MPH from Boston University and his BS in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
