Maria Fernanda “Fer” Cruz, MPH is the Senior Project Manager for the Salud Urbana en America Latina (Urban Health in Latin America, or SALURBAL) project. Prior to joining the UHC, she worked as a research project manager at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, where she studied Latino health inequities in Washtenaw County, MI. More specifically, she focused on promoting multidisciplinary collaborations and building community-academic partnerships to improve health outcomes. Fer earned her MPH in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan, and her BS in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science from the University of Arizona. She grew up in California, Arizona, and Mexico, and is fluent in Spanish.
