2021 Mike Moss Memorial Fund Award

Nicole Case

Nicole Case

Inspired by the dance community’s ability to adapt and persevere during COVID-19, Entertainment and Arts Management senior Nicole Case created the DiscoverMe Dance Virtual Showcase. Her project provides an opportunity for talented dancers to develop their work, receive professional feedback, and further their career goals in a virtual setting. Her goal for DiscoverMe Dance is to foster an accessible, diverse, and creative community for aspiring professional dancers.

Registration for the first round closed on February 5, 2021. The competition was free to enter for ages 14+ and open to all dance styles, including ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, original choreography, and more!

Professional Judges include New York City Ballet dancer Victor Abreu, Drexel University Dance Program Director Sandra Parks, former Martha Graham Dance Company member David Brown, and founder of hip hop’s Chosen Dance Company Clyde Evans, Jr. This judging panel brings a wide range of dance expertise and will offer individualized feedback to contestants. In March 2021, dancers with the highest scores will advance to the Final Round where their videos will be posted to the DiscoverMe Dance YouTube channel. The overall rankings will determine the winners who will receive:

1st prize will be awarded $1,000 to support their dance training and expenses.

2nd prize will be awarded $500 to support their dance training and expenses.

The DiscoverMe Dance Virtual Showcase received 150 submissions from around the world, including the United States, United Kingdom, Brazil, Italy, Russia, and Mexico. Nicole is excited that this group of dancers come from different countries, ethnicities, and dance experiences.
