February 7, 2022
Senior clarinetist Daniel Bolton is the 2022 winner of the Drexel University Symphony Orchestra Solo Competition.
Each year Drexel University Symphony Orchestra sponsors a Solo Competition. The competition is open to all interested members of DUSO who will be active participants during winter and spring terms. The winner performs with the orchestra either on the winter or spring term concert and receives a modest addition to their performing arts scholarship (90% of DUSO members receive a performing arts scholarship, for which they are considered when auditioning for acceptance into the orchestra).
Daniel is from Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and is a senior majoring in Architectural Engineering at Drexel University. He has been playing clarinet for 12 years, and has greatly enjoyed playing in Concert Band, Jazz Orchestra, and high school marching band, as well as the Youth Orchestra of Bucks County, and various PMEA bands and orchestras at the district, region, and state levels. Since freshman year, Daniel has loved playing in the Drexel University Symphony Orchestra as well as the Concert Band. He will graduate with a minor in Music Performance with plans to continue playing after college.
