Drexel Summer Dance Program 2023

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
This four week program is designed to allow students the opportunity to explore the intersections of technique, choreographic process, and dance as a healing art. Each day will consist of two technique classes, a seminar on careers in dance, choreographic process, and choreographic work time. Students enrolled in the Drexel University Summer Dance Intensive will have the opportunity to investigate dance as a college student, while enjoying the benefits of being in Philadelphia. This four-week intensive will allow the workshop participant to understand the intersections of technique, creative process, and dance as a healing art.

PROGRAM DATES
July 10-August 4, 2023

Each day includes a 30-minute lunch break.

Schedule:
9:00-10:20AM - Technique class
10:30-11:50 AM- West African/Jazz/Modern/Pointe and other forms
12:00-12:30 PM Lunch
12:30-1:30 PM Class/Guest Lecture/Pilates
1:45-4:00 PM Choreographic Process

This program will have culminating performance in the Mandell Theater on August 4th, 2023.

We welcome mature high school students, 14‑18 years old.

Apply by submitting the following items:

- A short video with you performing two genres of your preference. Videos no longer than 90 minutes.

- A copy of your high school unofficial transcript

How soon will you hear from us? All applications will be reviewed as we receive them and applicants will be notified within 3 weeks from receipt. Admissions decisions are based upon academic preparation and a commitment to learn. We will limit the program to approximately 50 students. We will mail an acceptance letter and an information package to you and your family with additional program information, and of course, more forms to complete. Enrollment is limited and is available on a first‑come, first‑serve basis upon review and acceptance of the application.

TUITION
Tuition: $1,700
This price is for all 4 weeks of the program.

Room & Board: $1,776
Participants may choose to stay on campus in one of our dorms. Commuter options are also available.

Activities Fee: $100

FACULTY
Drexel faculty and professional dancers in the Philadelphia area will teach the summer dance participants. Additionally, Drexel Dance students will mentor workshop participants.
