Drexel Dance Lecture: Pioneer Winter

November 3, 2023 | 6:00PM | URBN Annex Black Box Theater

Pioneer Winter (he/they) is a Miami-based choreographer and artistic director of Pioneer Winter Collective, an intergenerational and physically integrated dance-theater company, rooted in social practice and community, queer excellence, and beauty beyond the mainstream. Recognized in Dance Magazine’s 25 to Watch, Pioneer Winter’s work democratizes performance in public spaces, museums and galleries, stage, and film. Most recently, their renowned duet Gimp Gait created in collaboration with Marjorie Layne Burnett is featured in the 2022 book Screendance from Film to Festival: Celebration and Curatorial Practice by Cara Hagan.

Drexel Dance Day 2024

Saturday, February 10, 2024 

The day begins with three sample technique classes in Ballet, Modern, and West African dance from our faculty. After lunch, there will be presentations on possible careers in dance education, physical therapy, dance/movement therapy, and custom-designed career track followed by additional classes in Jazz and Hip-Hop. The day concludes with two complimentary tickets to the Drexel University Dance Ensemble Winter Concert in the Mandell Theater.

Registration Information: There is a $50 registration fee which includes techniques courses, workshops, lunch, presentations, and two tickets to our evening performance. Registrants will receive a confirmation e-mail and more detailed information about the event including information on where to arrive, along with a permission form that needs to be completed.

For groups: $45 per person for 5-9 students, $40 per person for 10+
