April 1, 2019
Caraleigh Stifler is a senior at Drexel University graduating in June with a BS in dance. After graduation, she will be pursuing her Master of Arts in Dance/Movement Therapy Counseling at Drexel University. Caraleigh is interested in a holistic approach to movement and how it can be used as a preventative care and treatment for physical and emotional well-being. She enjoys working with community populations and sharing mindful movement strategies to promote the importance of self-care and individuality. She has had the privilege to partner with health clinics, schools, community centers and drug rehabilitation centers to help promote movement as a way of healing. In addition, Caraleigh is a certified hatha yoga instructor and bases her classes around body awareness, stress relief, and relaxation. Caraleigh’s senior project consists of a mindful movement class with a senior population at the Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships. Since complementary therapies are not currently included in many health care plans, this project seeks to make mind-body practices more accessible regardless of age, physical capabilities, and socioeconomic status. Her senior project is supported by the Mike Moss Memorial Fund.
