Chia Yen "Ann" Hsu Scholarship
December 7, 2016
The Chia Yen "Ann" Hsu Endowed Scholarship Fund at Drexel University recognizes a student each year for outstanding achievement in theatre production; Ann’s great love and passion while a student at Drexel. The Fund was established in 2000 in memory of Chia Yen “Ann” Hsu following her tragic murder in December 1999.
Ann’s enthusiasm for life and all of its adventures was infectious. Her ready smile only hinted at the depth of her warmth and love for her friends and family. The loss of this strong young woman continues to be mourned by those who love her, as well as many who never had an opportunity to know her. The mission of the Ann Hsu Memorial Fund is to ensure that the memory of Ann and the ideals she stood for remain strong.
For the 2016-17 academic year, The Drexel Theatre Program is thrilled to award the Chia Yen "Ann" Hsu scholarship to three Co-op Theatre Company members. Christopher Fedor, Cindi Landmesser and David Dimarco are all seniors at Drexel and have been a part of Theatre Production for their entire student career. Christopher Fedor, an electrical engineering major, has focused his time at Drexel being a lighting designer and master electrician, he provided the lighting design for “Godzilla, A Love Story” and “From Beneath it Lurks.” Cindi Landmesser, a photography major, is a senior member of the costume department. She designed costumes for “From Beneath it Lurks,” served as assistant designer for “Dublin by Lamplight," and provided design support for the “Little Shop of Horrors” puppets, creating many vines and tentacles for the production. David Dimarco, a mechanical engineering major, has spent much of his theater career in the scene shop. David has served as assistant shop foreman for the last two years. He has been a leader on construction projects and built a number of scenic pieces for “Blood Wedding”, “Dog Sees God” and “Dublin by Lamplight.". We are very grateful for their service and dedication.
