Support for Pursuing Public Service and Environmental Careers: The Truman and Udall Scholarships

This session will cover the eligibility rules, selection criteria, nomination requirements, and application processes for the Harry S Truman Scholarship and the Udall Undergraduate Scholarship. We will also be joined by 2025 Udall Scholar Dejenae Smith to talk more about her experience with the scholarship.
The Truman provides up to $30,000 towards graduate education, as well as career development opportunities, for undergraduate juniors committed to careers in public service leadership, such as government, public policy, advocacy, or research. You must be a US Citizen or US National to apply; a university nomination is required. Learn more at

The Udall Scholarship recognizes emerging leaders in environmental, Tribal public policy, and Native American healthcare fields, with scholarships of up to $7,000 per year, for up to two years, applicable towards the costs of undergraduate education. You must be a US citizen, national, or permanent resident and a current sophomore, pre-junior, or junior to apply; a university nomination is required. Learn more at
