Michael Cimorelli named a 2023 Stanford Biodesign Innovation Fellow

We are pleased to announce that Michael Cimorelli has been awarded a 2023-24 Stanford Biodesign Innovation Fellowship. This 10-month experience equips aspiring innovators with a proven, repeatable process to identify important health-related needs, invent novel health technologies to address them (including medical devices, diagnostics, digital health, drug delivery, and biotechnology solutions), and prepare to implement those products into patient care through start-up, corporations, or other channels. Congratulations, Michael!

Michael is a Senior Scientist at Sonnest, Inc., a company he founded while earning his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University. At Sonnest, Michael leads company-wide R&D, GMP manufacturing, and product development while contributing to clinical and regulatory strategy. Before completing his PhD, Michael was already a decorated international researcher, having received the Koerner Family Fellowship, the GAANN Education Fellowship, the NSF Graduate International Research Experience Fellowship, and the Fulbright Open Research Fellowship. 


The Stanford Biodesign Innovation Fellowship is a 10-month experience that equips aspiring innovators with a proven, repeatable process to identify important health-related needs, invent novel health technologies to address them (including medical devices, diagnostics, digital health, drug delivery, and biotechnology solutions), and prepare to implement those products into patient care through start-up, corporations, or other channels. In addition, the Innovation Fellows become part of the Stanford Biodesign community, which is a life-long, worldwide network of innovators passionate about improving healthcare.
