Vy Nguyen’s Custom-Designed major capstone project focuses on cross-functional collaboration with students from the Westphal College of Media Arts and Design and the College of Computing and Informatics. Her major pulls from various disciplines including user experience and interaction design, software engineering, psychology, and entrepreneurship and innovation. In this project, Vy is working as a user experience designer on a team of ten total students on creating a mobile application and physical product to help plant owners flourish with their daily plant-care. The project is called “Flourish” which is a mobile app paired with an Internet of Things (IOT) sensor device. This is a multimedia solution with the goal to provide plant owners with accurate information and productive tools to help keep their plants healthy and happy. The proposed research question is: How might Flourish bring about an innovative, positive, and effortless experience with plant care?
