Dear 2020 Graduates,

Congratulations! We know that this is not how you imagined your commencement, but we hope that you are taking this time to bask in your achievement – as we are, on your behalf. In your time at Drexel, you have contributed so greatly to many of our communities – to communities of scholarship, of learning, of engagement – and we know that, as you move on to your next adventure, you will continue to do so. We applaud you for the commitment, drive, and talent that you’ve honed as a Drexel Dragon, and we are glad to have you entering the world, eager and prepared to begin solving some of our world’s thorniest problems.

We want to take this moment to particularly celebrate the ways you have taken the initiative to build these communities beyond the classroom. As Supernovas and Undergraduate Research Fellows, you have not only engaged in extracurricular research, but shared that research with others, helped peers access research opportunities, and explored how to incorporate the spirit of inquiry into your other endeavors. As Aspire Scholars, you have built a community of support, mentorship and growth, developing your own sense of direction and pushing your learning forward by harnessing external opportunities for personal and professional development. As Fellowships Ambassadors, you have gone beyond the hard work of applying for external opportunities that enhance your learning; you have given your time and guidance to other students to help them access expanded opportunities as well.

We are so grateful to have you as a part of our Pennoni family, for the last few years and for many more years to come. Congratulations, graduates. We are so proud of you.

Sincerely,

Jaya Mohan Director, Office of Undergraduate Research
&
Leah Gates Director, Center for Scholar Development
