Device Security: Maintaining Personal and Off-campus Devices

Faculty and Professional Staff should use Drexel-owned and Drexel-managed devices to access Drexel resources and services. These devices use Drexel-approved data encryption and received regular updates for Sophos Anti-Virus, macOS and Windows.

Faculty and professional staff bringing a Drexel-owned loaner device home for the first time MUST sign-in from the device at least once from the campus to ensure that user account profiles, settings, updates, and files are set up. This initial setup cannot be done from off-campus.

Faculty and professional staff using a Drexel-provided computer or device from home should sign in to the Drexel VPN on at least a week for a few hours to ensure that software updates are applied.

Personal devices used by students (and others only if necessary) should have their macOS and Windows operating systems set to update automatically and should install and update anti-virus software.
