Twenty-five years ago the Architecture  Program initiated the Pearson Architecture Prize to honor the memory of Michael Pearson, a friend, colleague and Drexel Architecture graduate who tragically passed away in 1989. The Pearson Prize Award for the Best Thesis commemorates Michael, who was a young and talented emerging architect, and is presented annually to an architecture student who produces an outstanding thesis project and shows exceptional spirit in pursuing the work. On June 22, a 25 Year Celebration of the memorial award will open with a reception and a special milestone exhibition, featuring works of past award recipients. This year’s recipients include gold medalist Ryan Debski, silver medalist Daniel Ellsworth Brown, and bronze medalist Julie Morningstar.

Ryan Debski will be awarded the Gold medal for his thesis entitled “Rebuilding Home: Futaba, Japan.” Daniel Ellsworth Brown will receive the Silver medal for his thesis, “UnderPenn: City Hall, Philadelphia,” and Julie Morningstar will receive the Bronze medal for “Transformal: Medellin, Colombia.” The Department also extends its congratulations to the award finalists, including Sharadan Chick, Katrina Connors, David Golden and Dominic Lacivita.

The show will highlight samples of past student work that earned recognition as well as examples of professional achievements since graduation.
