Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska.
Where did you do your undergraduate work?
My undergraduate was completed at Methodist University, in Fayetteville, NC.
Why did you choose the PA profession?
I chose the PA profession because of positive personal experiences with PAs. When I was transitioning towards the medical field, I initially wanted to be a doctor. I actually was unfamiliar with the PA profession, but with the funny way life happens, every turn I took towards becoming a doctor kept pointing me towards the PA profession. Friends, family, doctors and coworkers all encouraged me to consider the PA profession instead. The more I looked into it, the more appealing it seemed. Then, when I needed to sort out some health issues, I was continually impressed with the PAs who worked with me. They were patient, caring, compassionate and really took a lot of time with me. It was different from my average interactions with doctors, and that helped me make up my mind and commit to trying to become a PA.
Why did you choose Drexel University PA program?
My wife and her family are from the area so we knew that we’d have a great support system if I got into Drexel. With both my wife and I being away from the family for the past 10 years, its nice to be located somewhere with family close by. On top of that, Drexel has consistently rated as one of the top schools for veterans, which is something that was pretty important to me.
What music is currently on your playlist?
Coldplay is my favorite and always in rotation. I enjoy most country, some more than others.
What is an item on your bucket list?
I’d really love to travel around Japan and do some hiking in New Zealand.
Where is your favorite vacation spot?
Hard to pick, but definitely a toss up between Croatia and Kauai.
Tell us one fun fact about yourself that may not be on your resume.
After I graduated from high-school, I went to Australia, rode my bike across the country, worked in the Outback as a ranch hand on a cattle station and hiked the Bibbulmun Track, a 1000km trail, through the Aussie bush!
