Flood Buckets
During orientation week, PA students embarked on a group project that would set the stage for new students to live into the department’s mission of service to underserved communities. The plan was to have a teamworking experience where students could spend some time during an afternoon and put together flood buckets, school kits and hygiene kits. Money for the supplies was donated and the finished products were delivered to areas in need through Lutheran World Relief (LWR).
LWR Kits are specifically designed to help people coping with poverty, disaster, conflict and more. Whether a kit helps someone to maintain good hygiene, care well for a newborn baby, keep education going during a crisis or learn a new vocation, LWR Kits provide dignity and hope in the direst situations. https://lwr.org/kits
The flood buckets were distributed locally to people in areas around Philadelphia who suffered flood damage from recent storms like hurricane Ida.

International Opportunity
Our program was invited to participate in a collaborative online international learning experience with the health professions school at Coventry University in England. Coventry University has been ranked in England as the number one Modern University in the Midlands, first for Overseas Student Experiences, Top 30 in the World for International Students and University of the Year for Student Experience 2019.
During this 60-minute online session, a Coventry nursing professor gave an overview of the National Health Service, and then a Drexel PA faculty member overviewed the US health system and the PA profession. Then, students were encouraged to interact with each other and ask questions.
