A Farewell to Pat Auth, PhD
November 7, 2019
Patrick Auth, PhD, served Drexel University with conviction and compassion for close to three decades. Friends and colleagues gathered to celebrate Dr. Auth's retirement last May and his belief in the methodologies and approaches used by the program’s instructors which have had a significant impact in each student’s achievement during the program and beyond.
Auth is a humble leader and his colleagues in the Department describe him as reluctant to tout his own accomplishments. He led by example and based his approach on his passion for education, the mission of the program and advocacy of the profession. He worked tirelessly to help our students become leaders in the community, compassionate caregivers and well-prepared for the rigors of the career.
The lives he's touched are countless, in fact, students from the class of 2020 have made two recent changes—they both instituted a modification in the W.W. Oaks Student Society bylaws, and they introduced a new award in honor of Pat Auth. It's called the Servant Leadership Award and it's for students, faculty or staff who embrace and live into servant leadership qualities, like those so perfectly demonstrated by Auth. His kindness and empathy will be missed, but his example will be felt for years to come.
