Drexel University invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean, College of Nursing and Health Professions

Drexel University’s College of Nursing and Health Professions offers more than 25 undergraduate and/or graduate programs in Nursing, Health Sciences, Behavioral Health Counseling, Art Therapy, Dance/Movement Therapy, Music Therapy and Counseling, Family Therapy, Health Services Administration, Nutritional Sciences, Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant. The PhD degree is offered in Couple and Family Therapy, Creative Arts Therapy, Nursing Sciences, Nutritional Sciences, and Rehabilitation Sciences. Since 2002, the College has grown to include almost 5,000 students, 200 full-time faculty and 104 staff. Founded in 1891, Drexel University is a private, comprehensive university that is consistently listed among the Top 10 “Up and Coming” institutions by U.S. News & World Report. With more than 23,500 students, Drexel is the nation’s 14th largest private university.    

This position represents a significant opportunity to help shape the vision for nursing and health professions to achieve the University’s overall goals and objectives.  Reporting to the Provost, the Dean will embrace the practical ingenuity of Drexel and its focus on experiential learning through co-operative education, its commitment to cutting-edge academic technology including on-line education, and its growing enterprise of use-inspired research.

Candidates must have an earned doctorate in nursing or another health profession, strong research background and vision for moving the college forward and be eligible for appointment as full professor with tenure at Drexel University. We seek candidates with proven experience as a leader who can inspire faculty and staff to work together to build outstanding academic programs. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial and management skills with the ability to effectively partner with a broad range of constituents internally and externally. The successful candidate will be a persuasive communicator with strong and highly effective interpersonal skills.
