Special Acknowledgements June 15, 2016 Girija Kaimal, EdD, and co-authors, Kendra Ray and Juan Muniz, publish an article in Art Therapy: Journal of the American Art Therapy Association, called “Reduction of Cortisol Levels and Participants’ Responses Following Art Making”. 14 students from the Department of Nutrition Sciences attended the American College of Sports Medicine conference in Boston, MA, from May 31 through June 5, with Drexel faculty members, Sinclair Smith, ScD, teaching professor and chair of the Health Sciences Department, Clare Milner, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Physical Therapy/Rehabilitation Sciences, Stella Lucia Volpe, PhD, chair of the Department of Nutrition Sciences, and Sheri Silfies, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Physical Therapy/Rehabilitation Sciences. Of them, four presented, with multiple past and present students as co-authors on those presentations. Four Physical Therapy/Rehabilitation Sciences students also presented. The team of Sheri Silfies, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Physical Therapy/Rehabilitation Sciences, Arun Ramakrishnan and Sri Balasubramanian received a Coulter Grant for their proposal to finalize the features of our portable strength testing device and complete the reliability and validity studies. Hope Denhart ’18, a student in the Health Services Administration Department, wrote an article published in The Press and Journal about heroin dealers being charged with murder. Michele Nicolo, a PhD Student in the Department of Nutrition Sciences, has been appointed to the Research Committee of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN). Jamie Roloff, a first year physical therapy student, took part in and won the Enclara Pharmacia Art Contest. The prize was $500, all of which Jamie wants to donate to the Program.
