Stephen Gambescia Named SOPHE 2016 Distinguished Fellow
January 19, 2016
In December, Stephen Gambescia, PhD, clinical professor in the Health Administration Department, was selected as the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) 2016 Distinguished Fellow. The organization notes that this is the “highest honor that SOPHE bestows upon its most highly regarded members.”
Gambescia’s nomination was reviewed by a panel of SOPHE members, who then forwarded recommendations to SOHPE’s Executive Committee. The Executive Committee awarded Gambescia with this honor based on his significant and lasting contributions to the field of health education.
“In reflecting on my career trajectory, I can see that I have been fortunate to work with some exceptional people and on some very meaningful areas to improve the health of the public,” Gambescia noted. “Drexel and our college [CNHP] provide a rich environment to allow faculty to pursue many areas of interest; not only the teaching, but research and practice. We can do this in such an organic way. It is nice to be recognized by a leading organization in public health education, “he said.
Gambescia will receive his award among an audience of colleagues at SOPHE’s 67th Annual Meeting Awards Gala in March at the Levine Museum of the New South in Charlotte, NC.
