Dean Emerita Donnelly's Award Winning Portrait
December 14, 2016
We all know that Dean Emerita Gloria Donnelly is extraordinarily gifted in many areas, but did you know she is surprisingly talented at standing stock-still? Wait, has anyone ever seen her sit or stand still for even a second? Thankfully, when artist
John Ennis was commissioned to paint a portrait of Dean Donnelly, he was able to work from a photo. This 48x34" oil on canvas (currently hanging in the dean’s suite) was among the finalists in the eleventh annual Members Only competition of the renowned
Portrait Society of America which received over 1,000 entries.
On notification of the award, Dean Donnelly said, “I am standing here laughing at this development—a South Philly Italian girl, now in oil, and no garlic in sight!”
